About Vilnius
Vilnius is the capital of Lithuania. Located in the center of Europe and not yet flooded with crowds of tourists. Vilnius is a beautiful, unique and free-spirited city. Currently, there are just under 3million people living in Lithuania. The country is part of a Schengen zone, European Union, EEA and Euro currency zone, making it easy and accessible for tourists. Prices are below those ofmost other European countries, but the quality of amenities is similar. Lithuania is among the global leaders in phone signal prevalence and internet speeds, with WIFI being available in most public places in Vilnius

History
This country of forests, lakes and the sea has a proud history of being the biggest country in Europe in the 14th century. Later on, Lithuania became one of the biggest countries in the world, but… as part of the USSR. The life as a USSR citizen was different than life in Lithuania today (see Soviet Bunker experience). In 1990, Lithuania was one of the first countries to declare independence.
Food
Local Lithuanian cuisine is unpretentious and acceptable to many. Meat, potatoes, vegetables and rye bread are the main ingredients of the national dishes which you will have an opportunity to try while on the trip. Italian, Chinese and Western cuisines have the major presence, while pizzas and kebabs are the favorite fast foods.
Entertainment
The best part of the entertainment awakens at dusk! Lithuanians l-o-o-o-v-e parties, outdoor or indoor. The nightclubs blast all night and some of the best places will not shut until the last customers leave at 6 in the morning.
Shopping
Major high street brands and the majority of the luxury brands can be found in Vilnius. However, we recommend you stop at local bazaars to get some lovely souvenirs. Just ask our guide to assist you.
Visas
Most US citizens and citizens of other European countries do not need a visa to enter Lithuania. Lithuania is in the Schengen Area meaning there is no customs control between many other European countries. We recommend that our friends in the UK hurry up and book now!

Language
The national language is Lithuanian which is also one of the oldest languages in the world. It is so archaic that, if you want to know how Europeans spoke thousands of years ago, listen to your party guide speaking with the locals. InVilnius, most young people also speak English or German while the older generation might still speak Russianand Polish.

Climate
There are 4 distinct seasons where summers are green and can get up to +31 Celsius (87 degrees Fahrenheit) and winters are snowy and cold. The best time to travel is in summer so that you can make the most of the outdoor activities. If you want to travel in winter, we will need to take you shopping first.
